What is PaySmart?
PaySmart is your new prepaid electricity service provider. We specialise in accurate energy monitoring, tenant billing and automated payment collection. The system gives tenants full visibility of their usage and balance, and provides landlords with reliable, hands-off electricity management.
Is the new prepaid system more expensive?
No — electricity is charged at the same tariff as EEC/Eskom. The prepaid system does not increase the cost of electricity; it simply replaces manual invoicing and makes payment and usage tracking easier.
How do I check my balance?
Your balance is always visible in the PaySmart app under your meter account. You can log in at any time to see your remaining wallet balance, recent usage, and payment history.
How do I top up my electricity?
Open the PaySmart app, select your meter, enter the amount you want to load, and complete the payment. Your wallet and units update instantly once the payment is successful.
Can I see my electricity usage on my phone?
Yes. The PaySmart app displays your electricity consumption in real time, with options to view your daily, weekly, and monthly usage history.
Do I still get a bill at the end of the month?
No — there are no more manual bills. The system is fully prepaid, so you are responsible for keeping your wallet balance positive to ensure continuous supply.
What happens if I do not pay?
You will receive a notification when your wallet balance drops below R50.
If your wallet runs out of funds and remains in a negative balance for three days, your electricity supply will automatically disconnect. Supply will only be restored once you top up again.
